Remember Me...

I walked into this movie with no expectations or knowledge of the plot.  Ok, not entirely true.  I did see some movie previews, but not enough to know much more than it's a romantic drama with family conflict thrown in.  The official synopsis approved by Summit Entertainment is as follows:

In the romantic drama Remember Me, Robert Pattinson plays Tyler, a rebellious young man in New York City who has a strained relationship with his father (Pierce Brosnan) ever since tragedy separated their family. Tyler didn't think anyone could possibly understand what he was going through until the day he met Ally (Emilie de Ravin) through an unusual twist of fate. Love was the last thing on his mind, but as her spirit unexpectedly heals and inspires him, he begins to fall for her. Through their love, he begins to find happiness and meaning in his life. Soon, hidden secrets are revealed, tragedy lingers in the air, as the circumstances that brought them together threaten to tear them apart. Set in the summer of 2001, Remember Me is an unforgettable story about the power of love, the strength of family, and the importance of living passionately and treasuring every day of one's life. Remember Me also stars Academy Award® winner Chris Cooper (Adaptation), and Academy Award® nominee Lena Olin (Chocolat).

I wasn't anywhere near convinced I was going to leave the theater shaken or stirred. At all.  And I was curious.  About Robert Pattinson playing anything other than Edward...which by the way he does so well.

I must say that I kind of got swept up in the whole thing.  Nothing like a tragic twist at the end that catches me off guard to seal the deal.  I'm such a masochist that way.  Spin heartbreaking pain into something and I'm drawn in.

It's in theaters now.  If you're even mildly curious, it's worth a go-see.
